The laboratory of Agricultural Genetics and Breeding is very well equipped for various molecular biology techniques such as: bacterial culture, isolation of nucleic acids, PCR amplification of DNA segments, protein and nucleic acid electrophoresis, DNA fingerprinting with various molecular markers (AFLP, ISSR, SSR, REMAP), DNA sequencing, gene expression analysis using qRT-PCR etc.

In the lab, there are several refrigerators and freezers (including two ultra-low ones), a refrigerated floor centrifuge, while we are in the process of obtaining a seed germination – plant growth chamber and a nano micro volume spectrophotometer.

With funding provided by the “PlantUP” project, our lab recently acquired a benchtop sequencer, a fluorometer for nucleic acid and protein quantitation and a homogenizer for sample disruption and homogenization.
